Shima

Shima is a multi use plate which I got inspiration from islands floating in the sea. Shima creates a little space at the place they are, like an island would be the land where people could stand on. (I love spending time sitting on the floor, and the idea of Shima came from a small plate which I made for myself, so that I wouldn't knock down the coffee cup beside me.) The space made by Shima creates “a little place” for each objects in the room or on the table. “A little place” makes objects much more precious, and the time we spend with them would become much more calm and special.

Shimaは、海に浮かぶ島々からインスピレーションを得て制作した多目的プレートです。島が人々が立つことのできる土地となるように、Shimaはどこにでも、置かれた場所に小さな空間を作ります。（ きっかけは、床に座って時間を過ごすことの大好きな私が、隣に置いたコーヒーカップを倒さないように、ちいさなテーブルとしてつくったお皿でした。）Shimaによって生みだされた空間は、部屋の中や机の上で、それぞれの物に「小さな居場所」をつくります。 その「小さな居場所」は、物をより大切な存在にし、物と共に過ごす時間をさらに穏やかに、特別にしてくれるはずです。
